S. Steven Yang, M.D.
After graduating from Yale University with a bachelor of science degree,
Dr. Yang then studied at the Duke University School of Medicine. He
then went on to obtain a Masters degree at the Harvard
School of Public Health. An internship in general surgery and
a residency in orthopaedic surgery were completed at Lenox
Hill Hospital. Fellowship training in surgery of the hand and
upper extremity was undertaken at the Hospital for Special Surgery of the
Cornell University Medical College.
He has researched and published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters in the area of orthopaedic surgery.
Dr. Yang is an orthopaedic surgeon in group practice on Manhattan's upper east side. Although he is a board certified general orthopaedic surgeon, his specialty training is in the treatment of musculoskeletal and neurologic conditions of the hand, upper extremity, and shoulder. Dr. Yang is the hand surgery consultant to the New York Jets football team. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
Dr. Yang treats surgical and nonsurgical conditions of the upper extremity that include arthritis (reconstruction, joint replacement), fractures, tendon and nerve injuries, congenital abnormalities, tumors, tendonitis, carpal tunnel and other nerve compression syndromes. He also performs microvascular surgery for replantation and reconstruction.
