Thomas M. Mick, M.D.

Thomas M. Mick, M.D. Dr. Thomas Mick is a board certified internist with a subspecialty certification of sports medicine. In addition to providing non-surgical musculoskeletal care to patients of all ages, he specializes in sports health and all medical conditions related to sports participation.

Dr. Mick is interested injuries which occur in contact sports, but particularly rugby. He has competed internationally in rugby and served USA rugby in several medical capacities. In 2011 he will be the USA under 20 national team physician at the U20 Rugby World Cup. He has been the medical director of the Churchill Cup and the USA Selects vs. England Counties competitions. He currently serves as a regional medical consultant for USA rugby. In 2008, he was an assistant coach and assistant team physician for the Rugby Superleague National Champion New York Athletic Club.

Dr. Mick graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree with high honors. While at Notre Dame he competed at the varsity level in Track and Field winning two letters and held the school record in hammer throw for 20 years. He later competed for the USA internationally and at the US Olympic Trials. Also while at Notre Dame, he was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, an Academic All American, and was named the top student athlete in the university.

He received his MD degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed an internship in emergency medicine at the University of New Mexico and a residency in internal medicine at Rush Presbyterian St Luke's Medical Center in Chicago. He then completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation..

He also completed a Master's of Science in Clinical Research at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and has published articles on various topics in sports medicine. He is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
